Self-awareness empowers leaders to act as observers amid chaos, discerning internal and external dynamics without getting entangled. This skill enhances our ability to perceive the full spectrum of the business environment—from broad economic trends to subtle team dynamics—while avoiding biases. Outward focus awareness is equally important as it enables us to understand and navigate the external world, including complex relationships, with precision and insight. Our paper, “Systemic Awareness Coaching,” investigates one form of subtle yet powerful outward awareness by observing the systemic interdependencies leaders must navigate. Through the lens of the film ‘Rabbit-Proof Fence’, we demonstrate systemic awareness in real-world settings, offering strategies to enhance leadership acumen.
